The “Men in Kimonos Series” is part of the ongoing body of work, “Turning Japanese”. The “Men in Kimonos” work incorporates old photos of Kabuki Actors from the 40's - all dressed in "drag" - (women are not allowed to perform in kabuki theatre so traditionally, the men portray female characters). These characters are called “Onnagata” and the men are quite fetching and beautiful. These have been scanned and collaged with fish, octopus, found objects and incorporated into wooden frames which will have small cabinets in them. Some of the prints are large, measuring 45” wide.

All prints are ultrachrome digital prints on somerset velvet paper.
