Other Work
This work dates from 1980 - the different stages may be best summed up in terms of location.

Undergraduate School at San Diego State University from 1970-1975
Boston University from 1976-1978
Graduate School at Rochester Institute of Technology from 1978-1980.

1980 - 1985 I lived in Smithville Tennessee, where I worked and taught at the Appalachian Center for Crafts. This was an amazing time and I was able to meet and work (and party) with some incredible artists/craftsmen.

In 1985 I accepted a position at California College of Art(s and Crafts) in Oakland: I shared a studio with Gail Fredell on Magnolia Street from 1985-1989. Our shenanigans both in the studio and as teaching partners at CCA(C) were known far and wide - (this is where Gail earned her new trademark, "Flying Hammer Studios"). The pay at CCA(c) was pretty crappy and knowing I was worth more than the measley $16K that then-President Hoffman offered, I accepted a better teaching position at San Diego State University in 1989. That in itself was a story itself but better saved for another time. I was reluctant to leave the Bay Area but I've carved out a pretty creative and good life for myself down here in San Diego over all these years!
