Manzanar is one of ten relocation centers for nearly 10,000 Japanese Americans who were imprisoned here during World War II. Located in the Southwest it functioned from 1941 to 1944, when it was deemed unconstitutional to hold them captive any longer.

Manzanar is memorialized through the photos of Dorothea Lange - her photo is appropriated within this piece.
