E.O. 9066
Land of the Free references the stark landscapes of the camps where Japanese Americans were incarcerated during World War II under Executive Order 9066. Despite their citizenship and expressions of patriotism, they were forcibly removed from their homes and confined under suspicion.
The work reflects a fundamental contradiction—between the ideals of freedom and the reality of exclusion—pointing to a rupture in both place and principle.
