Zenmetsu takes the form of a cabinet with sliding doors, referencing the architecture of traditional Japanese interiors. The doors, however, are misaligned, colliding rather than moving in parallel—disrupting their intended function.

Encased behind glass are fragments of shattered porcelain rice bowls. These remnants evoke the breakdown of daily life and the disruption of family structures during the forced incarceration of Japanese Americans under Executive Order 9066. The work reflects a sense of fracture—both physical and cultural—marking a rupture that cannot be easily restored.
